I am inclined to believe Steve Martin's call with the Governor-elect this morning. That he will remain neutral. (Paul needed a leg up on occasion, and the first husband of internationalist CFR Olympia gave him a leg up way back.) Olympia herself richly deserves primary opposition and we should be prepared to help unseat her in the primary election coming up in just over a year!. And we should keep the pressure on Paul LePage to keep his promise to Steve to at least remain neutral. Don Folkers, 4 Mills Road, Newcastle.
Paul LePage owes the Snowes, especially Peter Snowe for giving him a home to come to when he needed that and help to get into college. He probably wouldn't be where he is now without that life-changing help. I can understand his loyalty. He will support Snowe for his personal reasons but WE owe Olympia nothing. She has to go and it's up to us to see to it that she does.

As for the opposing candidate, I agree it's wise not to divulge that information now. The later, the better.
Lets not get to hasty...

Read Steve's follow up after Paul returns his call.

I have had numerous conversations with Paul and have looked into his eyes many times while in conversations. I have a lot of trust in this man to be a good Governor.

The first thing I saw from Paul's work and intentions so far is his "Red Tape Removal Audit" I know that this is a huge deal for progress in the way we want to see Maine go. Paul LePage is not going to be able to wip Maine back into constitutional shape with out the assistance of the Maine citizens. There are going to be many issues for us to get involved in. Do not get caught up with the main stream press's reporting but objectively keep our own eyes open. Not every one is going to agree with Paul, We cannot always agree amongst ourselves. We just need to find the common grounds we can agree upon and keep our focus on how to rebuild Maine's government system.

We must all keep involved and discuss these issues, but we must resort to the known facts, and watch out for those who want to disrupt the process. So far I have complete faith in Paul LePage and I am watching and calling to find where I can be part of the process of bring Maine into Constitutional compliance with the law of the people.

If we all do one thing I would suggest that we gather together and try to build an agenda list to work for.

The first on My list is to create some sort of campaign to get thousands of people to Paul LePage's inauguration day with signs supporting the Maine Constitution. I believe that we must make a strong statement to our Government servants in Augusta and across Maine that cannot be ignored. So far I do not find support for this idea.

Gary Smart
I hope everybody goes to this historic inauguration with a Maine Constitution tucked into his shirt pocket or jacket pocket. The Constitution should be visible sticking out of your pockets. An alternative is to have the whole booklet clipped to your jacket with one of those alligator clips. Maybe somebody from the MHPC will be there handing them out. Mine is a little worn and that's a good thing.
Although I will actively work against Olympia Snowe's re-election, I fully understand where Paul LePage is at on this. Stop and realize, would we have Paul LePage as governor were it not for Peter Snowe? Yes, loyalty is a trait of a person and I respect the Governor for it.
Rabyrne Hutton, I was going to post this feeling but you beat me to it. I fully agree with integrity and authenticity. Let's remember we don't own Paul Le Page. We put him in a position because we think he will do good. We own ourselves and I agree with Pete Harring's comment that Snowe doesn't stand a chance of a snowball on the surface of the sun.
To say you will support one individual before even knowing any of the other candidates (there will be at least 3) and hearing thier platforms or understanding thier experiences isn't something I would do personally.

What if the other candidate is a close friend and has integrity, principles, and values? What then?

I don't buy it. If he does, it will be muted.
Let me start by saying that at this point, I still believe that Paul LePage is an honorable man, and that he has the potential to be one of the best Governors this state has ever had.

However, since I spoke to the Governor-Elect a couple hours ago, I have subsequently heard rumors that he had promised to endorse Scott D'Amboise. That would be different, if shown to be true, than saying one intends to remain neutral. I didn't know about that rumor when I called Paul LePage, or I would have asked him about it.

(I don't know why Scott's candidacy is being treated a a "secret." He's been on our show twice, and we have supported his decision to run.)

However, until Scott replies to my email, this "endorsement promise" is just at the rumor stage.

If Scott says it happened, and can give details as when/how/where/how often, then it will be up to him to contact Governor LePage and then to communicate to us what the outcome of that discussion is.

I fully understand the Governor wanting to remain neutral, but if he had previously promised Scott an endorsement, than that is something that will need to be explained.

Ouch This needs much thought on many levels. 3 dimensional chess is a hard game.

I am not sure Mr dodge has any creditentials to speak for the "TEA Party" in Maine. What has done again? I am not comfortable with him going around to the press and speaking as though he is a learned and wise profit who warned us all. I can't find any posts of him saying anything about his reservations about Paul LePage.
Mr Dodge has a history of stepping in and claiming things for which he has no right to claim. Now it is this pass "the envelope please" game with the name of the next "Tea Party candidate" in it? Please tell me... This is a game being played in his "Dungeons and Dragons" type website he runs right? Mr Dodge's website here.

Note to Mr Dodge: An important part part of being a leader is to actually come forward and lead. Who are you again?
I couldn't agree more. I have a hard time with the Mainestream "press" in this State picking a NON-CITIZEN who is into witchcraft and weird sexual stuff as a spokesman for the "tea party" in Maine.

As near as I can tell, he is a self-appointed leader, with few-to-zero followers, toward whom the alleged "press" in this state seems to gravitate.

Things that make you go "hmmmm....."
A Non-Citizen?
The NON-CITIZEN comment is supported by this in a Newsweek article part of which is about ANDREW IAN DODGE.
"a decade of experience in Conservative politics in Britain (where he met his wife), and communications skills honed stumping against a strong European Union while working for Margaret Thatcher’s Bruges Group."
Mr. Dodge, is a single minded "liberalist" who is not a christian and has no room for "conservatives". How can he espouse the constitution, when he has no judeo-christian beliefs, spent his time in British politics and now he wants to represent us. I think not. He is exactly the type of character that will fracture the Tea Party here in Maine.
Do you want him to continue as state coordinator of TPP for Maine? Do we need a leader that can bring in a diverse group based on common ground principles? And who would that be? I have a good idea...what is yours.
